Andreea Brabete, PhD, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
She/Her
Hi! If you’re here, it reflects a desire to explore the underlying questions, internal conflicts, and uncertainties that impact different aspects of your life.
Life frequently confronts us with moments of overwhelming uncertainty, leaving us feeling stuck, anxious, and unsure about our next moves. The decision to embark on a therapeutic journey often arises from such encounters with life’s challenges. These challenges may manifest as obstacles in our daily lives or when interacting with people, and make us feel persistent anxiety, or depression or perhaps just a vague sense of unease, the contemplation of something still taking form – a lingering, unarticulated question residing in our minds.
My approach
My approach is centered on creating a space where you can freely and openly share your thoughts, emotions, and experiences, without the usual filters or self-censorship that we employ in everyday conversations. I encourage you to express whatever comes to mind, regardless of whether it may initially seem unrelated or trivial. My practice is informed by psychoanalytical psychotherapy. Throughout our sessions, I’ll ask questions, provide interpretations, and offer insights to unveil aspects often overlooked in your life. This approach underscores the significance of subjectivity and your individual experiences, aiming for a deeper understanding within your unique context.
About me
I studied psychology in Madrid and earned a PhD in Women’s Health. After dedicating many years to researching different topics related to women´s mental and physical health, substance use, and the influence of trauma, sex, and gender factors, I was increasingly drawn to the prospect of one-on-one interactions. This desire was deeply influenced by my own encounters and personal growth throughout my psychoanalytic exploration, prompting me to embark on further clinical training in this field.
I work with individuals navigating a range of experiences, including:
- Anxiety and depression
- Life transitions
- Women’s health
- Isolation, trauma, and dissociation
- Struggles with substance use
- The profound impacts of loss and grief
- Shame, chronic pain, and self-harm
- Difficulties in communication
- Challenges in family relationships
- Support for students and those navigating cultural transitions
I’m currently working in person or via a secure video platform. I work in the three languages I speak fluently:
- English
- Spanish
- Romanian
