As a queer white femme, my social work practice is rooted in a commitment to social justice, holding space and promoting health and wellness of QTBIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA, and other marginalized communities. As someone who also has lived experience accessing the social services, I work collaboratively with you to minimize barriers to counselling, recognizing the ways that intersections of people’s identities may impact their access to health care.
I am a registered social worker with over 10 years experience providing counselling and developing programming for individuals seeking support. I specialize in Narrative Therapy, Expressive Arts and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, but also have training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
My approach to the work is trauma focused, meaning that I acknowledge and honour all the ways that trauma can impact a person and that the ways that people cope and feel are understandable reactions to events that have happened to them. Rather than focusing on “problems/behaviours”, I will explore with you the needs that your coping skills fulfill, and work on developing more adaptive ways of meeting those same needs. I will work collaboratively with you to both compassionately point out stuck points, and look at the many different social factors that precipitate and maintain your sense of “stuckness”.

My rate is $140 an hour and I offer 20-minute free phone consultations to see if we are a good fit. If you cannot afford market rate, I have limited sliding scale availability.
