Jonathan Kim

(He/Him Pronouns)

Thank you for your interest! I am glad that you are here contemplating these courageous next steps to find the support that you need. I am here to help.

I am enrolled in my final year of a 5-Year program at the Gestalt Institute of Toronto to become a Registered Psychotherapist. I have spent over a decade in public policy, health care, and hospital sectors. Growing up in Canada and South Korea, I have a deep understanding of cross-cultural issues and living as part of immigrant families. I believe that therapy can be an incredible support to encounter lifes challenges, explore our being, and to heal. I have a genuine desire to support clients through the hardest of times and best of times.

I have a deep interest and experience working with adults, young adults/college graduates, and parents encountering:

  • Cultural/Religious Issues (e.g., navigating immigrant parental relations)
  • Parenting Issues (e.g., managing family stress as a father)
  • Work/Career (e.g., exploring meaning and career purpose)
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Trauma
  • Anger issues
  • Interpersonal relationships

How do I practice? I am trained in Gestalt Psychotherapy, a humanistic therapeutic approach that focuses on enhancing awareness, and gaining new insights/perspective, with a focus on somatic/body processing. A Gestalt therapist may invite the client to participate in creative experiments that may help the client discover new insights. I like to think of Gestalt as a process of becoming more human and coming home to ourselves. I am here to meet you where you are at in your life in a safe, and non-judgmental space.

I offer low-cost therapy and sliding scale options (between $40 – $90 for 50-minute session). I am fully supervised by an experienced Registered Psychotherapist. I invite you to contact me for a free 20-minute phone consultation at
