During COVID-19, I am providing on-line video sessions for my clients. I have availability outside of Tuesday evenings for those seeking video sessions.

About Me

(She/Her Pronouns)

I am interested in helping people become their most authentic selves by supporting them to successfully navigate life’s challenges. As a therapist, I see my role as a non-judgemental and collaborative listener, who uses effective, clinically proven mental health tools to facilitate strength, resilience and self-awareness.

I am a registered social worker with almost 20 years of experience working in community and mental health settings. My professional expertise is diverse and includes working with women who have experienced domestic violence.

My Approach

My practice is flexible, holistic and strengths based. I place a strong focus on nurturing a trusting and caring therapeutic relationship and I work collaboratively with clients to help them meet their therapy goals. I draw from a number of therapeutic modalities, including (but not limited to) mindfulness and narrative based therapies, cognitive behavioural therapy and solution focused therapy. I have a rich knowledge of community services and resources, which informs my overall approach.  Where appropriate, I guide my clients in the use of external support and services to facilitate the circle of care.

I offer individual therapy to adults experiencing a range of challenges, which may include anxiety, depression, self esteem, relationship or workplace stress, life transitions and change, parenting issues and shame, as well as grief and loss.  I welcome clients from all backgrounds and identities.

Availability:

I am at the Healing Collective on Tuesdays 6-9 pm or by appointment.  I offer free 20 minute phone consultations and my rate is $140/hr.  To book a consultation, please email me at jdhcounselling@gmail.com.  I look forward to working with you!
