Seeking help to make changes in your life can be a big step that requires courage. My goal is to help you change behaviours and understand your experience in ways that leads to you gaining greater satisfaction in your life.
I have always been drawn to understanding the process of change at an individual, group, organizational, and even societal level. I started my career working with people with problems with substance abuse and have helped many individuals in their journeys as they made profound transformations in their lives. I hold a leadership position in a hospital that provides mental health and addiction treatment but am coming back to working as a psychotherapist because directly helping people make positive changes in their lives is what is most meaningful to me.
I have over twenty-five years of experience working in mental health and addictions and am a Registered Psychotherapist with two Master’s Degrees from the University of Toronto (one in Counselling Psychology and another in Health Administration). Ongoing learning is very important to me and I have completed training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy as well as Narrative Therapy. I have done my own work using these approaches as well as within mindfulness and psychodynamic frameworks and draw upon all my training and experience in working with people who struggle with anxiety, substance abuse, behavioural addictions, anger and depression.
The relationship between client and therapist is one of the most important components in determining whether therapy is effective. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a brief phone consultation to assess your needs and determine if there will be good fit with my skills.
I am at the Healing Collective on Wednesday evenings from 5-9pm by appointment. I look forward to working together with you.
