Hello!

Hi, I’m Susan Bascillo. I enjoy working with people from a diverse background. Being a psychotherapist has allowed me to connect with individuals on an interpersonal level and better understand our thought processes and behaviours. I am registered Psychotherapist with the College of Psychotherapist of Ontario. I also hold a Master’s in Social Work in Health and Mental Health from the University of Toronto and Registered Social Worker in good standing. I also have a Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Congratulations! You have made one of the most important decisions for your well-being. Seeking therapy can be very challenging and overwhelming. As a Black therapist I understand the shame, negative stigma and connotations that comes with seeking therapy. I will like to assure you; you have made the right choice.

My Approach

I don’t believe in one size fits all therapy model.

I believe the body mind and spirit are connected and for this reason, I practice from a Holistic framework using an integrative approach that focuses on the relationship between mind, body, and spirit, attempting to understand and address the ways issues in one aspect of a person can lead to concerns in other areas of life. This approach helps my clients to become better attuned to their entire awareness, which can often promote greater acceptance of the self. Because everyone is unique, I practice form a person-centred approach.

As a therapist, I am not committed to a singular therapeutic approach. Instead, I blend elements from different approaches and modify treatment according to each client’s needs. While my therapeutic approach is not rooted in a particular model I do adhere to the principles of Cognitive Behavioural therapy.  Because when working with feelings of depression, this model establishes the importance of identifying the thoughts and actions that influence mood.

When I’m able to resume in-person sessions, I’ll be available at The Healing Collective one night a week. Until then, you can reach me by email at susan@harmonyandwellness.ca  or by phone at (647) 857-0360 to set up a free 20 minute consult.
