I am a trauma-informed therapist and have over 10 years’ experience working with people who are struggling with issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, emotion regulation, grief and loss, low self-esteem, relationship problems, difficult family dynamics, sexual violence, life transitions, cultural concerns, racism/discrimination, and trauma/PTSD related to childhood or adulthood.
I am dedicated to providing a safe space for my clients to explore their feelings and concerns. I help my clients work towards greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-acceptance which I believe are all key to emotional healing. I also recognize that culture plays a major role in people’s lives and problems, therefore my approach to counselling is one that is culturally sensitive and where cultural factors can be openly discussed.
I work from strengths-based perspective and use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Mindfulness, Emotion Focussed, Solution-Focussed and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approaches. I have a special interest in working with trauma and using EMDR because it can reduce the number of sessions required to see positive results by resolving the impact of past traumas and allowing you to let go of painful feelings so that you can move forward with your life.
I am available at the Healing Collective: Wednesdays 5:30pm-9pm
