SUMMARY:PWYC: SoundTogether
DESCRIPTION:SoundTogether is an innovative musical workshop designed to empower our freedom of expression and to deepen our connection with others through the uplifting and unifying experience of playing music and singing together as a group. \n Everyone is welcome\, no musical background required! Please bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothing. Extra percussion instruments are provided\, and you are also welcome to bring a musical instrument. $10-$20 PWYC \n How SoundTogether works: \nGathered in a circle\, participants are guided through a series of warm-up exercises and creative activities to get into our bodies\, wake up our voices\, and to align all participants heart-to-heart. Once our hearts are harmonized\, Zaye shares their original songs with the group that welcome participation and improvisation. These songs are imbued with soulful themes that are collectively explored before and after each song is played. At the end of the gathering\, participants are guided through an integration exercise\, and then the circle is opened for participants to share feedback and comments about their experience. \nSuggested PWYC $10-$20\, all are welcome. Contact Zaye to register. \n{image description: black page\, circle with instruments on grass and a photo of Zaye in the bottom right hand corner. The following text is written: SoundTogether\, free your voice\, free your spirit. Empower our freedom of expression. Deepen our connection with others. Play\, share\, & experience unity. SoundTogether transports us outside of space and time. It’s a way to find  your voice\, and its resonance with the rest of the world. Some people hear music\, and others can feel it; Zaye belongs definitively to those who can feel it\, and they discovered a way to bring us all there too. Audrée Prud’homme\, Support Worker}

SUMMARY:Sprouting Melodies
DESCRIPTION:Sprouting Melodies® is a music therapy based early childhood program designed and led by Board Certified Music Therapists to create child-centred musical experiences for the whole family in each and every music class. Sprouting Melodies integrates all that we\, as music therapists\, know about young children\, development and musical responses. Sprouting Melodies provides consistent music experiences through which the child’s overall development is supported and strengthened. Parents are given specific tools and music strategies to support their child’s growth at home. \n \n11:05-:11:50: Sprouting Melodies 2™ (6-18 months)\n\nFor babies and young toddlers\, music is all about exploring! Exploring the sounds\, the touch\, the feel\, and yes\, even the taste of everything around them! The active music making and music listening in Sprouting Melodies 2 is designed to support children 6-18 months old as they build trust and increase their understanding of the world around them.  \n\n10:05-10:50: Sprouting Melodies 3™ (18 months-3 years)\nBetween 18 months and 3 years of age\, each day is an adventure full of growth and exploration! Songs become learned and mastered\, and young children want to show off their new skills and independence. Within our music experiences\, Sprouting Melodies 3 provides the routine that toddlers crave yet provides the freedom and creativity for children to grow in self-expression and to build social relationships with their peers in music. Through instrument play\, movement and singing songs\, children in this group will be supported as they move through their own personal journey of social\, emotional\, physical and cognitive growth. \n\n**In the case of babies who could go to either session\, (i.e. ages 6-9 months)\, it is suggested that a parent or guardian contact Cheryl-Lee at East Toronto Music Therapy before registering for help in determining which class will be the best fit for the child. Learn more and register here.

SUMMARY:Healing the Womb Space
DESCRIPTION:Our womb space is an energetic as well as physical centre of our body\, containing our pelvic & reproductive organs. Many of us who struggle with a pelvic health issue\, pelvic pain or discomfort benefit from a holistic approach that targets not only the physical\, but the emotional and energetic levels of being. \nIn this workshop\, we will explore ways of tuning into our pelvic floor and womb space using mindful movement and breath to help us heal energy imbalances and facilitate pelvic health.  We also explore self-care practices such as writing\, drawing and sounding\, as well as honoring our womb space energies in connection to the earth\, seasonal and lunar cycles. \nParticipants do not need to have a physical womb nor womb health issue in order to participate\, simply an interest in improving their pelvic health. Folks who identify as two-spirit\, trans\, non-binary\, queer\, are all welcome to participate. Approach is trauma-informed\, accessible and prenatal-friendly. \nFacilitator Serena Oakley is a holistic pelvic health professional and founder of Willowroot Healing Arts\, focusing on one-on-one womb wellness sessions in east Toronto. SUMMARY:Holding Space For Our Bodies
DESCRIPTION:✨Holding space for our bodies. ✨\n\nWorkshop by: Stephanie Chinn\n\nMy name is Stephanie and I am an illustrator who focuses primary on work intended to dismantle how we view our bodies through the lens of society. Most of my pieces are created\, in hopes\, to make the viewer know that they are worthy for who they are\, AS they are. That they don’t have to be anything other than what they are. I also work to help people understand that most of our struggles are rooted in the belief that we do have to be someone else.\n\nI long to create a space where we can talk openly\, and honestly\, about our struggles with loving our bodies. While we can slap positive affirmations all over the internet until we are blue in the face — creating a community where we can connect with others who are facing the same challenges can bring us closer to understanding ourselves and dismantling old beliefs. I want this to be an honest\, and open discussion where we can see others\, and be seen ourselves.\n\nAfter we connect and share our stories (if you are comfortable enough to)\, we will paint whatever came up for us in a guided painting session. NO ART OR PAINTING EXPERIENCE NEEDED\, so don’t worry. This painting class is all about exploring and tapping into our intuition\, it is not a technique based class.\n\nThis workshop is open to everyone and this will be a safe space FOR everyone.\n\nYou will walk away with:\n\n*Two small paintings done by YOU. One reflecting where you are at\, and one reflecting where you hope to be.\n\n*A community of others who are in this experience with you.\n\n✨I can’t wait to see you there. ✨\n  \nStephanie Chinn \n\n@stephaniechinnart\nwww.stephaniechinn.com

SUMMARY:Mindful Eating and Nutrition
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Healing Collective on October 2nd OR October 9th from 6-9pm for an evening of Mindful Eating and Nutrition with Dr. Sylvi Martin\, Naturopathic Doctor. \nIN THIS SINGLE EVENING GROUP PROGRAM\, YOU WILL: \n– Explore your level of hunger\, fullness & satisfaction\, along with body sensations and emotional factors that impact your eating habits\n– Practice using mindful eating techniques to transform your relationship with food \n– Learn foundations of healthy\, balanced nutrition\n \nThis introductory program was developed by Dr. Sylvi Martin\, naturopathic doctor\, as a fusion of evidence-based nutrition with the mental-emotional aspect of mindful eating where you will learn how to nourish your body\, and your senses. You’ll explore and practice using techniques to improve your awareness of body sensations and emotional factors that impact your eating habits\, and learn strategies that you can use at home to improve your relationship with food. The ultimate goal of the program is to help you learn to make healthier and more conscious food choices while eating flexibly and mindfully in a sustainable way. \nThe program blends together Dr. Martin’s education in naturopathic medicine and clinical nutrition\, her background in mental health and mindfulness skills\, and her training in Mindfulness Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT – a program developed by Dr. Jean Kristeller\, PhD). Several clinical trials involving variations of MB-EAT have noted improvement in how people relate to their eating. For example\, researchers have found that an increase in mindful eating has been associated with decreased consumption of sweets and improvement in blood sugar levels\, and other evidence supports the use of MB-EAT in improving one’s sense of self-control around eating. Typically\, when eating mindfully\, people learn to become more satisfied with the food that they eat\, while reducing overeating. \n** Group size is limited – reserve your spot today by emailing drsylvimartin@gmail.com ** \nCost is $60 per session – covered by most insurance plans \n{image description: an apple with the event title and details}
