SUMMARY:Holding Space For Our Bodies
DESCRIPTION:✨Holding space for our bodies. ✨\n\nWorkshop by: Stephanie Chinn\n\nMy name is Stephanie and I am an illustrator who focuses primary on work intended to dismantle how we view our bodies through the lens of society. Most of my pieces are created\, in hopes\, to make the viewer know that they are worthy for who they are\, AS they are. That they don’t have to be anything other than what they are. I also work to help people understand that most of our struggles are rooted in the belief that we do have to be someone else.\n\nI long to create a space where we can talk openly\, and honestly\, about our struggles with loving our bodies. While we can slap positive affirmations all over the internet until we are blue in the face — creating a community where we can connect with others who are facing the same challenges can bring us closer to understanding ourselves and dismantling old beliefs. I want this to be an honest\, and open discussion where we can see others\, and be seen ourselves.\n\nAfter we connect and share our stories (if you are comfortable enough to)\, we will paint whatever came up for us in a guided painting session. NO ART OR PAINTING EXPERIENCE NEEDED\, so don’t worry. This painting class is all about exploring and tapping into our intuition\, it is not a technique based class.\n\nThis workshop is open to everyone and this will be a safe space FOR everyone.\n\nYou will walk away with:\n\n*Two small paintings done by YOU. One reflecting where you are at\, and one reflecting where you hope to be.\n\n*A community of others who are in this experience with you.\n\n✨I can’t wait to see you there. ✨\n  \nStephanie Chinn \n\n@stephaniechinnart\nwww.stephaniechinn.com

SUMMARY:Mindful Eating and Nutrition
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Healing Collective on October 2nd OR October 9th from 6-9pm for an evening of Mindful Eating and Nutrition with Dr. Sylvi Martin\, Naturopathic Doctor. \nIN THIS SINGLE EVENING GROUP PROGRAM\, YOU WILL: \n– Explore your level of hunger\, fullness & satisfaction\, along with body sensations and emotional factors that impact your eating habits\n– Practice using mindful eating techniques to transform your relationship with food \n– Learn foundations of healthy\, balanced nutrition\n \nThis introductory program was developed by Dr. Sylvi Martin\, naturopathic doctor\, as a fusion of evidence-based nutrition with the mental-emotional aspect of mindful eating where you will learn how to nourish your body\, and your senses. You’ll explore and practice using techniques to improve your awareness of body sensations and emotional factors that impact your eating habits\, and learn strategies that you can use at home to improve your relationship with food. The ultimate goal of the program is to help you learn to make healthier and more conscious food choices while eating flexibly and mindfully in a sustainable way. \nThe program blends together Dr. Martin’s education in naturopathic medicine and clinical nutrition\, her background in mental health and mindfulness skills\, and her training in Mindfulness Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT – a program developed by Dr. Jean Kristeller\, PhD). Several clinical trials involving variations of MB-EAT have noted improvement in how people relate to their eating. For example\, researchers have found that an increase in mindful eating has been associated with decreased consumption of sweets and improvement in blood sugar levels\, and other evidence supports the use of MB-EAT in improving one’s sense of self-control around eating. Typically\, when eating mindfully\, people learn to become more satisfied with the food that they eat\, while reducing overeating. \n** Group size is limited – reserve your spot today by emailing drsylvimartin@gmail.com ** \nCost is $60 per session – covered by most insurance plans \n{image description: an apple with the event title and details}

SUMMARY:Paint For Self-Acceptance
DESCRIPTION:NO ART EXPERIENCE NEEDED. you just have to show up and be willing to explore this intimate feeling with me – Stephanie Chinn. \nHey Toronto. Here we go. A workshop on this giant & oh so important topic.. \nSelf-acceptance. \nSelf-acceptance is the pillar of our storytelling. The stories we tell ourselves and what we are willing to share with others. It’s an arena we can easily sabotage and just as easily we can slowly bring into our lives. \nJoin me and my wonderful community on May 11th as we explore self-acceptance. What it means and how we can love ourselves a little bit harder moving forward. ♥️ \nIn this two hour workshop we will journal self-acceptance and paint two illustrations based off of the journaling we do. This is such a wonderful practice to tap in and get to know ourselves a little bit better in order to see where our self-acceptance and self-love can improve. \nIn this space\, everyone is welcome. ❤️ Get your tickets here. \n{image description: illustration of a woman hugging her mirror image with a text bubble saying ‘I love & accept you as you are.’}

SUMMARY:A Day of Mindful Eating and Nutrition
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Healing Collective on April 27th from 9:30am – 4pm for a Day of Mindful Eating and Nutrition with Dr. Sylvi Martin\, Naturopathic Doctor. \nIN THIS FULL-DAY GROUP PROGRAM\, YOU WILL: \n\nLearn foundations of healthy\, balanced nutrition\nExplore your level of hunger\, fullness & satisfaction\, along with body sensations and emotional factors that impact your eating habits\nPractice using mindful eating techniques to transform your relationship with food\n\nThis full-day program was developed by Dr. Sylvi Martin\, naturopathic doctor\, as a fusion of evidence-based nutrition with the mental-emotional aspect of mindful eating where you will learn how to nourish your body\, and your senses.  You’ll explore and practice using techniques to improve your awareness of body sensations and emotional factors that impact your eating habits\, and learn strategies that you can use at home to improve your relationship with food.  The ultimate goal of the program is to help you learn to make healthier and more conscious food choices while eating flexibly and mindfully in a sustainable way. \nThis program blends together Dr. Martin’s education in naturopathic medicine and clinical nutrition\, her background in mental health and mindfulness skills\, and her training in Mindfulness Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT – a program developed by Dr. Jean Kristeller\, PhD). Several clinical trials involving variations of MB-EAT have noted improvement in how people relate to their eating. For example\, researchers have found that an increase in mindful eating has been associated with decreased consumption of sweets and improvement in blood sugar levels\, and other evidence supports the use of MB-EAT in improving one’s sense of self-control around eating.  Typically\, when eating mindfully\, people learn to become more satisfied with the food that they eat\, while reducing overeating.  \nReserve your spot today! \nGroup size is limited – reserve your spot today by emailing drsylvimartin@gmail.com \nCost is $150 – covered by some insurance plans \nTo learn more about the group facilitator\, visit: www.drsylvimartin.com  \n{image description: fresh cut up fruit and workshop description}

SUMMARY:Paint for Self-Discovery
DESCRIPTION:(NO ART EXPERIENCE NEEDED)Hosted by Stephanie Chinn\, this workshop is about the process of bringing out what is going on inside of not; not the product. So if you are new to painting or drawing…great! \nThis is a meditative workshop where we get to know ourselves a little bit better and love ourselves\, our authentic selves a little bit more. \nIn this workshop we will reflect on how some of our toughest times can can create our most resilient selves and on how to turn that into our most meaningful and creative pieces. We will also reflect on our favourite attributes about ourselves. \nI want you to leave with the tools you need to dive deeper into yourself and channel your creative self as a way to be more mindful. \nFor me\, when I started to reflect on what I was trying to tell myself and pay attention to life’s little clues is when I started to build up an appreciation for myself as well as build more self-love rituals. \nI’d love to have you there! Get your tickets early as these workshops tend to sell out.

SUMMARY:Self-Care Through Creative Movement
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Jessica Houghton (RP qualifying)\, this 10 week Dance Movement Psychotherapy group offers participants a chance to deepen their relationship with their body\, needs\, and self-care practice. Together we will begin the process of holding ourselves with compassion\, practice listening to our body’s cues\, and develop our ability to ask for what we need from others. Jessica’s approach uses dance as a medium for self-discovery\, allowing participants to expand their awareness of their patterns of moving and relating and find ways to access their creative impulses towards healing. \nWhen: Thursdays from March 21st-May 23rd\, 7:00-8:30pm \nWhere: The Healing Collective\, 2005 Danforth Ave. \nHow much: $300 \nTo register email movingtogetherDMP@gmail.com

SUMMARY:Peaceful Parenting 101: What\, Why & How
DESCRIPTION:Peaceful parenting doesn’t mean the kids are in charge! Learn exactly what Peaceful Parenting is\, why it’s important and how to apply it. I’ll teach you how to set kind\, firm limits and get kids to cooperate using lots of empathy and support. Peaceful parenting is the best approach to raise resilient\, successful\, happy and emotionally intelligent kids.\nBring your questions and challenges to this interactive workshop. Space is limited. For parents of 2- 10 year olds.\n\nThis just in from the November Healing Collective workshop:\n“I can’t even begin to tell you what a huge impact your workshop had on me as a parent. Things with my two sons age 3 and 5 have dramatically improved. They aren’t perfect\, but I’ve noticed a huge improvement by shifting my own mindset and getting to know my own triggers.\nThe Monday after your workshop\, I used your tips to stay calm through the morning chaos\, stand my ground with the constant distractions of toy playing etc.\, when getting out the door in a calm way and we were actually 10 minutes early leaving. It felt great! Thank you so much!”\n-Emily\n\n\n“Your workshop has been life changing! We have incorporated so many strategies that you taught us. We still have our moments but nothing like what it was before. I had no idea peaceful parenting would work as well as it does. \nThank you again. \nYou honestly have given us strategies that make life and parenting fun again!”\n-Amanda\n \n\n“Thank you so very much for the workshop (and followup resources!)\nAlready I’m feeling like I understand where my kid is at and what my role can be so much better. It’s been not even 24 hours and already I can feel a (positive!) shift in my parenting. Thank you!!”\n-Lindsay\n\n“It has been work to incorporate the strategies into our life but we are so glad that we have started. We already see a difference in our daughter just from us changing our parenting approach. This workshop seriously has been life changing!!! Thank you so much :)”\n– Michelle\n\nSarah Rosensweet is a peaceful parenting coach and educator. SUMMARY:RECOVERY IMPROV with Ashley Seaman: Healing from an Eating Disorder through Mindfulness & Play
DESCRIPTION:This 2 hour workshop invites participants to take a playful approach to the healing process.  Designed specifically for individuals battling an eating disorder and created by an individual who has recovered from one\, we will spend the evening connecting to the moment\, ourselves and each other with a sense of humour\, joy and above all – acceptance.  Making Improv a part of your recovery process welcomes a refreshed perspective that seeks opportunity in each honest moment.  Learn more about Ashley here\, and get your tickets here! \nWhat to expect:\nYou don’t need to expect anything! You are encouraged to show up with an open mind and enjoy feeling supported and connected to others.  You are not alone!  Throughout our time together\, you will be gently reminded to find acceptance\, however messy or uncertain or awkward!  You will be encouraged to discover the amazing value YOU have to offer – just by being honestly YOU. \nIn case you want to have a little expectation: \nWe will chat\, breathe\, sit\, stand\, move our bodies in ways that feel comfortable; we will be invited (never forced!) outside of our comfort zone in safe & supported ways to discover opportunities outside our habits.  We will play games\, we will lose and fail (on purpose!) with no stakes\, and we will laugh!  \nWhat to bring:\nYourself and a willingness to explore acceptance and the healing benefits of laughter\, connection and an exceptionally supportive space! \nMaybe some water (hydration is always important). \nComfy clothes.  No need to impress! Time to relax and play.  \nThink about what you might wear if you were a kid and it was recess.  \nThis is YOUR time. \n{image description: a photo of Ashley and The Healing Collective logo} \n
