Rosie Bell (she/her pronouns)

I see therapy as a place for my clients to slow down, get to know themselves better, and find some solid footing in their lives. I aim to help my clients get curious about themselves, carefully turn towards their challenges, identify their capacities and needs, and build mental health skills and self-care that work for them. It may also be a space to return to and process past life events to discover what those experiences mean now, and to heal long-standing wounds. No matter the direction we go, I believe that building those curiosity and self-attunement muscles can open the door to stronger self-compassion, a sense of control, and agency.

I am a registered social worker (RSW) and psychotherapist with a collective 15 years experience in community mental health settings and private practice. I graduated with a Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto in 2012 and a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Studies from Toronto Metropolitan University in 2007. My private practice largely supports youth and young adults (ages 16-30) and their families.

My approach is relational, anti-oppressive, feminist, identity-affirming, and trauma-focused. I lean heavily on somatic (body-based) approaches such as Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) and cognitive approaches such as Mindful Self-Compassion techniques and Narrative therapy. I collaborate with my clients to work towards their hopes and aspirations and always assume they are the experts of their lives with inherent knowledge, capacity, and resilience.

I have expertise in the following concerns:
– anxiety
– depression
– stress
– big transitions
– relationship issues
– identity questions
– unresolved PTSD and complex-PTSD

I provide individual and family counselling services and offer virtual and in-person options. I meet with my clients on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. My rates are as follows: Individual (virtual or in-person): $170/50-minute session Family (virtual or in-person): $195/50-minute session. I am currently accepting new clients for virtual and in-person sessions. I offer a sliding scale pricing to a limited number of clients. I can bill directly to GreenShield insurance.

My online booking site allows individuals to book a free initial (phone or video) consultation and ongoing sessions: https://rosiebell.janeapp.com/#staff_member/1. For more information, feel free to check out my website.

Outside of my work, I enjoy swimming, cycling, cooking, drinking coffee, and eating Toronto’s many amazing cuisines. I love spending time with family and friends, being in nature, and attempting to keep some plants alive. Starting therapy can feel like a really big step. I encourage you to take the time to find the right therapist for you! We can start with a 20-minute free phone or video consultation to answer any questions you may have and to see if we would be a good fit to work together. Please reach out by email, my website, or phone if you’d like to learn more.
