About Me

Taking the first step towards reaching out to a therapist can feel very overwhelming, so congratulations for taking that step today!

When looking for a therapist, finding the right fit is crucial. I will share a bit about me to help you decide if I’m the right counsellor for you.

Let’s fast forward to our first session. Imagine you are picking up the phone, or clicking on Zoom for that initial meeting. What you’d find when we connect is genuine warmth, an open mind, zero judgement, and attentive understanding. You will feel seen, heard, and cared for.

I’d like to share right away the approach I take to therapy. This approach is rooted in my belief in the inherent worth and resiliency of every person.

Here’s the lens I work within:

  • Anti-oppressive
  • Trauma-informed/focused
  • Strengths-based
  • Solution-focused

This lens is founded on my own lived experience, politics, and personal healing work – which give it deep roots. It’s also why I became a social worker.

One of the modalities I draw from is narrative therapy. What this means is understanding how the stories you weave about your self, world, and experience are connected to the healing process. Exploring the impact of the ‘problems’ as separate from your core sense of self and identity can be highly empowering and transformational.

As a registered social worker with over 5 years of working as a therapist for social service agencies, I work with  individuals in my private practice. My work has largely been with the LGBTQIA2S+ community – I provide a safe space to explore identity and sexuality.

Throughout my years of practice, I’ve been honoured to work with and learn from people who experience:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Diverse gender and/or sexual identities
  • Shame
  • Trauma
  • Feelings of overwhelm
  • Substance use and harm reduction
  • Relationship and intimacy concerns

If what I say above resonates with you, I look forward to hearing from you!

I am available at various times Monday to Friday daytime, with some flexibility for evenings as well. My rate is $130 per 50-minute session. I am currently offering online therapy services via encrypted video conferencing or phone sessions only. If you would like to set up a free 15-minute consultation, I can be reached at:
