Janet Lawson, MSW RSW
She/Her

Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to read my page, I am glad you are here. Picking a therapist is an important decision and can be a bit scary and intimidating; so, a good fit is important. Let me share a bit about myself and my practice to see if I am a good fit for you.

My practice is firmly rooted in the idea that you are the expert in your life, and that we will take time to get to know you and what makes you tick. My practice is about looking at challenges together and co-creating plans when necessary.

As a Registered Social Worker, I have over 15-years of experience working with clients who have experienced challenges including institutional trauma, ageism, heterosexism and bi-trans-homophobia.

My primary modality is Narrative Therapy, which focuses on the stories we understand about ourselves, the world, and experiences that we have that we can connect to healing. I feel that these challenges are separate from the self, and Narrative Therapy can be a transformative tool. I also employ an Anti-Oppressive Practice lens, which means that I acknowledge issues such as power and oppression have an impact on the ways we live our lives, and the challenges we encounter.

I have worked closely with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and have a keen interest in the challenges faced by older women and older Queer women. I provide a safe place where people can explore issues of sexuality, intimacy, depression, anxiety, trauma, shame, and ageism.

I am accepting new clients at the rate of $160 for a 50 minute in-person or online (viavideo encrypted video conferencing) session.

I am also happy to meet with you for a free 15-minute video conferencing appointment
to see if I am a fit for you.

I can be reached at cjlawsonmsw@gmail.com

I hope to hear from you and take care.
