Marta Bonati (she/her)
Ciao and welcome!
Many of the people I work with are carrying quiet, painful beliefs about themselves: “I’m not good enough,” “I should be happier,” “Something is wrong with me,” or “I should have figured this out by now.” You might be navigating a major life transition, cultural adjustment, new parenthood, the grief of pregnancy or infant loss, or the complexities of ending a pregnancy. In a world that constantly urges us to improve or keep it together, I believe real change begins by slowing down and making space for what’s already here. I don’t believe people need fixing. I believe in the power of acceptance: of who we are, where we are, and what we feel.
In our sessions, I offer a space where you can bring the parts of your story that may feel heavy, confusing, or unspoken. Together, we explore what’s happening beneath the surface: the patterns, emotions, and stories that shape how you experience the world. My approach is warm, relational, and psychodynamic, shaped by three years of psychoanalytic training at the Toronto Institute for Contemporary Psychoanalysis. I also bring a sense of lightness and humour into the room; therapy can hold both depth and relief.
Originally from Italy, I now call Toronto home. Having lived through the experience of building a life in a new country, I understand the complexities of cultural adjustment, identity, and belonging. I offer sessions in both English and Italian.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent over a decade in Human Resources, where I witnessed how deeply our personal and professional lives intertwine. I hold a master’s degree in psychology and draw from both my clinical training and professional experience to support clients in finding balance, meaning, and self-understanding.
